Kindle Fire Preview – Pre-Order Your iPad 2 Dethroner for $199 Today

One of the biggest deals this year is the release of Kindle Fire, Amazon’s first full color and multitouch screen tablet packed full with awesome features. Amazon says they sold more than 250,000 units in 5 days after Fire’s announcement and they’re progressing at about 2,000 units an hour now through pre-orders. Kindle Fire pre-orders will ship on November 15, 2011.

So what’s all the fuzz around this shiny new gadget? It has features that are unprecedented for any tablets (and there are quite a few as you can see from our long reviews here on Wobzee) that came out to date:

• 7 inch ful color display
• extra durable, scratch and crack resistant screen
• runs a custom version of the popular Android system
• ultra fast web browsing via cloud accelerated browser codenamed Amazon Silk
• access to Amazon’s huge resource of 18 million movies, TV shows, books, etc.
• all your digital content is stored in the cloud for free
• dual-core processor
• 8GB internal memory
• 8 hours battery life

And the list goes on and on. One feature some users might miss is the ability to use 3G networks as this device only has WiFi connectivity. It’s not a major flaw though and I’m sure many will find a way to use the tablet on the go as well (for example using any Android based phone’s tethering feature).

The IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology allows wide viewing angles with excellent colors. This means that 3-4 or even more people can watch the same movie or TV show without compromising on picture quality.

As you can see Fire can easily dethrone current king of all tablets, the iPad 2. For less than half the price! Yes, you read it right, Fire is currently sold for $199 compared to Apple’s lowest price of $499. Amazon already has a very successful line with its e-readers, the Kindle series, however the newest one, Kindle Fire will up the game to a whole new level.
