Many people have died or been injured terribly in house fires because their fire and smoke alarms did not alert them to the fire. It turns out that it generally is the fault of the people in the house and not the fault of the alarms. When a battery in an alarm starts to die down, the alarm will emit a little beeping sound that is different from it’s “alarm” sound. This is to let you know that it is time to chance the battery.
The thing is though, not everyone has a spare battery on hand. So, instead of listening to the constant reminder that the battery needs replaced or heading straight to the store for one, some people will simply remove the battery all together, figuring that they will get to replacing the battery soon. However, as life would have it, things get hectic and before you know it, they have forgotten all about replacing the battery so now there is no protection in the home from fire.
Another reason why some people will remove the alarm battery is because they keep setting it off with smoke from their cooking. Instead of moving the alarm to a better location, they completely remove the battery and forget to put it back in.
In order to make sure that you never forget to put the fire or smoke alarm battery back in, you should never remove it in the first place. If the battery is never removed, you will never have to worry about having such a problem.
