Voted as CNet.com’s best performing television of 2011, the Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30 is one of the most highly sought after units on the market. With a quite hefty price tag and a few concerns about color and power usage, you need to be sure you get all of the facts before making this your next television purchase.

Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30

The Positive – The picture quality in general is the best available. In brightly lit rooms, there is no deterioration of image and color. The stability of the black levels is only matched by a very few number of televisions on the market, with the blacks a true black color, and not ‘greenish’ or ‘blueish’. It includes accessories that you do not typically find bundled in with the television, such as a pair of 3D glasses and a wifi dongle. The Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30’s internet suite is very user-friendly and well designed. The television is framed by a single pane of glass, so there is no visual transition from the frame to the screen. With a very narrow profile, this unit would look great mounted on any wall without it seeming like a small cabinet has been attached to the inside of your living room. The Panasonic VIERA TC-P65VT30 is THX 3D certified, and great motions tracing while watching fast paced programs like sports or action movies.

Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30

The Negative – For the price of the unit, the Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30’s color accuracy is not the best there is available. Unusually, the unit’s pedestal does not allow it to swivel, and it has quite a large base area. The on-screen support for the unit’s setup does not exist. The wifi is not internal, so the dongle uses up one of the Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30’s USB ports. There isv no web browser or video search abilities. Some of the more common internet suite programs are missing (Vudu video, Hulu Plus and Rhapsody), and some are using outdated interfaces (Netflix). Additional 3D glasses are retailing at around $180 per pair.

Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30

The high end nature of the Panasonic VIERA TC P65VT30 is reflected in it price, with some units selling for more than $3,000. With that additional investment, though, you do get one of the best televisions that have ever been put on the market.  If you have the money to spend and are looking for a superior quality entertainment unit, you may want to look into purchasing this one.
