Furnaces Home & Garden — 11 January 2011

I have learned that when it comes to service technicians, it really pays to shop around for quotes. If you simply hire the first company or technician that comes out to your house, you might find later that you were ripped off. It is best to advise those who come out to give you quotes that you will be calling others before you make your final decision on who to hire.

By doing this, you might be surprised at the good prices you receive, especially if they are hurting for business. It is important to make sure that you get all of the technicians to really understand what it is that you need done. This way, you are not getting one quote for one type of job and then a different quote for a different type of job.

Also, you have to make sure that you are getting this quote in writing. Once you have selected who you are going to hire for the repair or the replacement of your furnace, you need to make sure that they are giving you a set price for the entire job and that the price was given to you on paper. If you do not do this, you are risking being asked for more money than originally agreed to.

This can be a hard thing to stick to, especially if it is the middle of winter and you are cold. However, if you want to make sure that you are getting an experienced furnace technician at a fair price, this is something that you have to do.
